The Puzzle of the Ring (text version)

Here is the complete text of the story:

Puzzle of the Ring

Panel 1
[It happened at a lake in upper New York State.]
Oh, Jim! My ring. It slipped off my finger while I was swimming! It's lost!
Holy cow! I'll dive for it. There's still a chance!

Panel 2
[For hours, with the help of volunteers, a fruitless search was made! At last.]
It's hopeless! We better quit. It's getting dark!
I. I can't tell you how awful I feel, Jim! My engagement ring. You worked so hard to buy it!

Panel 3
[Neither had an appetite when they stopped to eat later]
No use crying over spilled milk, sweetheart! Go ahead, the trout's delicious.

Panel 4
[As she toyed with her food, her fork struck something hard! A diamond gleamed brilliantly]
J-Jim! Is it possible? It's ... my ring!
It, it couldn't be! Here, let me look at it!

Panel 5
"Jim to Mary" It is your ring! But how ...?
Let's ask the manager!

Panel 6
Can you tell me when this fish was caught?
Anything wrong with it? We serve only fresh food here! That trout was caught yesterday morning, but it's been kept on ice.

Panel 7
Yesterday morning? Are you sure?
Of course I'm sure. Say, what's this all about, anyway?
[But the ring was lost this very day. What do you think, reader?]

The Lost Ring

Please read this story about a lost ring. Then, do two things, A (talk about your feelings), and B (write a summary). You can see a text version in the next blog post.

A:
How do you feel about the story? Think carefully. Do not retell the story. Please say your name first, then ONLY talk about your feelings (what do you think of this story?). What should you say? yHere are two suggestions:

Example 1: "My name is XXX. I think "The Lost Ring" is stupid. I don't like it because ..."

Example 2:  "My name is XXX. I like this story because a story like "The Lost Ring" happened to my brother. He went to the supermarket one day and ..."
Get ready to speak for 30~60 seconds. Please click on the black "Send Voicemail" button and tell your teacher how you feel.

B:
Please write the story in 5~10 short, easy sentences. You can copy some of the words, but do not write any dialog. Use past tense. Here are sentences 1 and 2:
